French deep-tech animal nutrition firm Aviwell SAS has secured €11 million in Series A funding to accelerate development of its AI-powered microbiome platform and scale natural biological solutions for livestock and aquaculture.
Headquartered in Toulouse, Aviwell welcomed three new investors, Blue Revolution Fund (BRF), and Blast. Club, and SWEN Capital Partners, while existing backers Elaia and MFS Investment Management also participated. The funding will support the company’s next growth phase as it advances nature-based nutrition technologies for global agri-food markets, initially targeting poultry and aquaculture.
AI Platform Built on Microbiome Science
Aviwell’s technology builds on decades of research led by co-founder Prof. Rémy Burcelin, who explored how naturally occurring bacterial ecosystems administered early in life can deliver long-term benefits to animal growth, health and resilience.
This research underpins Aneto™, the company’s AI-driven microbiome discovery platform. Aneto™ identifies precise molecular mechanisms that allow scientists to select and combine native bacterial communities. These tailored microbial ecologies aim to improve animal performance, strengthen immunity and enhance robustness.
By combining advanced microbiota analysis with artificial intelligence and machine learning, Aviwell has streamlined the discovery process. The company reports shorter R&D timelines, lower development costs and faster routes to commercial application.
Focus on Sustainable Production Systems
The fresh capital will help Aviwell move its microbial ecology solutions from discovery into validation and commercial scale-up. The company will also expand Aneto™ platform services, strengthen demonstration capabilities and deepen partnerships with producers and feed companies.
Chief Executive Officer Mouli Ramani said Aviwell operates at the intersection of two major trends: rising global demand for animal protein and growing consumer preference for natural, antibiotic-free production systems. “With Aneto™, we translate microbiome complexity into practical and scalable solutions that help producers improve productivity while reducing environmental impact,” he said.
Investor Confidence in Biological Innovation
Blue Revolution Fund, which led the round, emphasised the platform’s potential to address biological complexity in aquaculture and livestock production. Blast. Club highlighted Aviwell’s ability to boost animal performance without hormones or antibiotics, while SWEN Capital Partners framed the investment within its broader commitment to sustainable and responsible finance.
Implications for the Animal Nutrition Sector
The Series A funding reflects a wider shift in animal nutrition towards precision biological solutions. As regulatory pressure on antibiotic use increases, microbiome-based innovations are gaining attention as tools to improve efficiency while supporting animal welfare and environmental sustainability. With expanded funding and investor backing, Aviwell aims to convert cutting-edge microbiome science into scalable solutions that support resilient and sustainable protein production systems worldwide.
