Sikkim Governor Visits Moovana A2 Dairy Farm in West Bengal

The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, visited Moovana A2 dairy farm in Fulbari, near New Jalpaiguri (NJP), West Bengal, on October 15, 2026. The visit highlighted the dairy brand’s efforts to combine traditional cattle care practices with automated dairy farming technology and its plans to expand access to A2 dairy products.

Moovana Showcases Traditional Cattle Care and Modern Technology

During the visit, the Governor was welcomed by Moovana founder Amit Agarwal, his family and members of the company’s team. He toured the farm’s facilities, including its automated cow sheds, and learned about the company’s approach to dairy farming.

According to a press release distributed by VMPL and published by ANI, the Governor appreciated Moovana’s approach of combining Gauseva, the traditional practice of devoted cow care, with modern automation. The company aims to build a scalable dairy business while maintaining its focus on cattle care and dairy product quality.

Automation is becoming increasingly relevant to the dairy industry as farms seek to improve operational efficiency, maintain consistent management practices and support expanding production. Automated facilities can assist with routine farm operations, although their effectiveness depends on appropriate infrastructure, maintenance and animal welfare practices.

During the visit, the Governor also fed the cows and planted saplings on the farm premises. The activities highlighted the company’s emphasis on traditional dairy values alongside its interest in farm development and environmental awareness.

A2 Milk and Bilona Ghee at the Centre of the Brand

Moovana operates as an A2 dairy brand based in the NJP region, offering A2 milk and Bilona ghee. Its business positioning combines traditional dairy practices with modern farm infrastructure to serve consumers seeking these specialised dairy products.

A2 milk is marketed based on the type of beta-casein protein present in the milk. Consumer interest in A2 dairy products has created opportunities for specialised brands to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. However, product composition, quality assurance and accurate labelling remain important considerations for manufacturers and consumers.

Bilona ghee is traditionally prepared using a process involving cultured curd and the separation of butter before clarification. The method is associated with traditional dairy preparation and is often used by brands seeking to distinguish their products from conventionally manufactured ghee.

To mark the Governor’s visit, Agarwal and his family presented him with a jar of the company’s signature A2 Bilona Ghee.

Expansion Plans and the Future of Dairy Farming

Before concluding the visit, the Governor discussed Moovana’s future business expansion plans and its ambition to make its dairy products available to more households.

Founder Amit Agarwal said the visit was an honour for the company and that the Governor’s encouragement strengthened its commitment to combining purity, innovation and tradition. The statement reflects Moovana’s stated objective of expanding its presence in the specialised dairy segment.

For emerging dairy businesses, expansion requires more than increasing production capacity. Maintaining reliable milk sourcing, consistent processing standards, effective distribution and consumer confidence becomes increasingly important as a brand enters new markets.

Automation can support operational growth, while traditional product positioning can help brands establish a distinct identity. Nevertheless, sustained success depends on maintaining product quality, transparent marketing and appropriate food safety practices.

Implications for India’s Dairy Industry

Moovana’s approach illustrates how specialised dairy brands are positioning themselves within India’s broader dairy sector. Alongside large cooperatives and established processors, smaller businesses are exploring premium products, differentiated processing methods and modern farm infrastructure to reach specific consumer segments.

The combination of automated facilities and traditional dairy branding represents one approach to developing a modern dairy enterprise. For the wider industry, such initiatives underline the importance of investment, farm management, product differentiation and dependable quality standards.

The Governor’s visit brought attention to Moovana’s operations and expansion ambitions. The company’s future growth will depend on how effectively it scales production, maintains its stated product standards and builds a broader customer base.

As India’s dairy market continues to accommodate businesses of different sizes and business models, specialised brands such as Moovana are seeking opportunities by combining traditional dairy identity with modern production practices.
