Chitale Dairy Raises Milk Prices by ₹2 per Litre in Maharashtra

Chitale Dairy has announced a ₹2 per litre increase in the retail prices of select milk variants, effective February 28, 2026, citing rising operational and procurement costs. In an official communication issued by M/s B. G. Chitale, the company informed its milk distributors in Pune and surrounding areas that the revised prices apply to pasteurised full cream milk, pasteurised cow milk and T Special milk.

According to the revised rate structure, pasteurised full cream milk has been increased from ₹74 to ₹76 per litre, while pasteurised cow milk now costs ₹60 per litre, up from ₹58. The price of T Special milk has been raised from ₹68 to ₹70 per litre.

The dairy has instructed all distributors to take note of the revised pricing with immediate effect. While the communication does not explicitly detail the reasons for the hike, the revision comes amid rising fodder costs, higher logistics expenses and sustained pressure on milk procurement prices, trends currently impacting the wider dairy sector in Maharashtra.

Industry observers note that regional dairies have been facing cost inflation across feed, energy and transportation, making periodic price adjustments increasingly unavoidable.

Chitale Dairy is one of Maharashtra’s well-known regional dairy brands, with a strong presence in western India’s liquid milk market. The latest price revision is expected to have a moderate impact on retail consumers, particularly in urban centres.
