US-based precision liquid processing technology company FloUV has appointed Germany-headquartered ELEFQ Market Solutions as its exclusive European commercial partner for the dairy sector, marking a significant expansion of non-thermal dairy processing technology into the European market.
The agreement positions ELEFQ Market Solutions, operating from Hamburg and Kiel, as the primary commercial contact for dairy processors across Europe seeking alternatives to conventional thermal pasteurisation systems. The partnership also supports FloUV’s broader expansion into beverage and liquid food applications throughout the region.
The collaboration comes at a time when the global dairy sector is increasingly focused on sustainable dairy farming, energy-efficient processing systems, and advanced dairy technology innovations that can improve operational efficiency while maintaining product quality.
FloUV, a Tennessee State University spin-off based in the United States, has developed a precision UV-C liquid processing system designed to achieve microbial inactivation in opaque and viscous liquid streams including milk, whey, brine, juice, and other beverages. Unlike conventional heat-intensive methods, the technology can operate with or without thermal treatment, offering processors flexibility within existing production infrastructure.
According to the company, the system combines advanced fluid dynamics engineering with controlled UV-C dose delivery to ensure uniform treatment throughout the liquid volume. The solution can function as a standalone non-thermal processing system, a pre-treatment step before mild pasteurisation, or as a post-treatment solution to support shelf-life extension and minimise contamination risks.
One of the major highlights of the technology is its sustainability advantage. FloUV claims the system can reduce energy consumption by up to 90 per cent and water usage by up to 80 per cent compared to conventional thermal pasteurisation methods. This aligns with growing industry demand for green dairy practices and eco-friendly dairy processing technologies across global markets.
Dirk Dubiel of ELEFQ Market Solutions said the European dairy and liquid food sectors are actively looking for solutions that can improve efficiency while lowering operational costs.
“European liquid food producers are looking for two things at once: better products and lower operational costs. FloUV delivers both. We are proud to open the European market for this technology and to give producers a credible, sustainable alternative that works alongside what they already have.”
Pankaj Uttarwar, CEO of FloUV Inc., highlighted the broader industry implications of the partnership and the growing importance of sustainable liquid processing technologies.
“We created FloUV to tackle a core problem in liquid processing: how to ensure microbial safety without relying on heat treatments that drain energy and can damage product quality.”
He added that the partnership with ELEFQ would help establish non-thermal processing as a scalable and commercially practical option for food and beverage manufacturers globally.
ELEFQ Market Solutions stated that its business approach focuses on helping manufacturers adopt low-energy, low-water processing systems while unlocking new opportunities for product shelf-life enhancement and operational optimisation. The company’s leadership team brings more than 25 years of experience in European dairy processing and international market development.
Industry experts believe technologies such as UV-C liquid processing could become increasingly relevant as the dairy sector India and global dairy markets continue investing in dairy climate solutions, precision dairy farming, and sustainable production technologies to meet evolving regulatory and consumer expectations.
