Italian Animal Nutrition Firm Vetagro Breaks Ground on First U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Maryland

Easton, Maryland, September 17, 2025: Italian animal nutrition and feed supplement company Vetagro has officially broken ground on its first full-scale U.S. production and distribution facility, marking a significant expansion into the North American market.

The facility, located at Mistletoe Hall Commerce-Business Park in Easton, Maryland, is scheduled to open by July 2026. It will complement Vetagro’s European operations in Italy and strengthen the company’s ability to serve both U.S. livestock producers and international customers.

🏭 Strategic Expansion for Global Reach

“As an Italian company, we have built our reputation on scientific excellence. Expanding our presence with a fully integrated production and distribution facility in the United States is a natural next step in our strategy,” said Andrea Piva, President of Vetagro.

Piva emphasized that Easton offered more than just logistical advantages:

“We discovered here a collaborative business climate, proximity to research centers and government agencies, and a welcoming community. Those qualities convinced us this was the right place to grow.”

💼 Economic Impact and Job Creation

  • The new facility is expected to create 20 new jobs initially, with potential to scale up to 60 jobs as operations expand.

  • The site falls within one of Maryland’s Enterprise Zones, qualifying Vetagro for property and state tax credits tied to local investment and job creation.

  • Maryland’s Department of Commerce worked closely with Vetagro to identify suitable sites and connect with developers.

“I am thrilled to welcome Vetagro to Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore and its thriving business community. Their dedication to research, innovation, and biotechnology engineering makes them a perfect fit for Maryland,” said Harry Coker Jr., Maryland Commerce Secretary.

🌍 Community and Regional Support

Local leadership hailed the expansion as a win for the region’s innovation economy:

“Vetagro’s decision to invest here is a big win for our community, and we’re excited about a company that shares our values of innovation, hard work, and commitment to quality.
