Jammu, June 24 – In recognition of his exceptional commitment to dairy sector advancement and social impact, Satish Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the Advisory Board, J&K Dairy Farmers Association, has been awarded the Dr. V. Kurien Lifetime Achievement Award – 2025. The award was presented during a special function organised by Pashudhan Praharee to mark World Milk Day celebrations.
This prestigious national award, instituted by the Indian Dairy Association, honours individuals who have made long-term and transformative contributions to the Indian dairy industry. It pays tribute to the legacy of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of India’s White Revolution.
A Post-Retirement Journey Devoted to Dairy Upliftment
After retiring as Commissioner of Income Tax, Sharma shifted his focus to grassroots-level development, particularly in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. His work includes championing the rights of dairy farmers, promoting animal welfare, and strengthening dairy cooperatives in the region. Sharma’s within the Jammu and Kashmirers Association has been pivotal in bringing regional dairy concerns to national attention, advocating for milk procurement price reforms, improved services, and policy-level support for sustainable dairy farming in mountainous terrains.
His award was met with widespread acclaim across the dairy community, highlighting the impact of policy advocacy, cooperative building, and post-retirement civic engagement in driving meaningful sectoral change.
