In celebration of World Milk Day, the Mysuru Milk Union (Mymul) reaffirmed its commitment to empowering dairy farmers and promoting milk as a nutritional staple. At an event held at the Mymul plant in Siddhartha Nagar, Chairman R Cheluvaraju emphasised that dairy farming is not just a livelihood—it is the backbone of the rural economy.
“If dairy farming survives, the rural economy will be strengthened. It is the lifeline of farming communities.”
— R Cheluvaraju, Chairman, Mymul
Cheluvaraju lauded the Nandini brand’s global reputation, noting its significant contribution to strengthening farmers in Karnataka. He highlighted that Nandini products remain competitively priced, especially when compared to neighbouring states such as Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra.
“Before opposing any price revisions, we must remember that Nandini prices are among the lowest regionally, yet producers are still being paid fairly,” he said.
To support producers, Cheluvaraju said that Mymul is ensuring the distribution of quality fodder and seeds, helping farmers manage and reduce production costs.
🥛 Quality Milk, Health Awareness, and New Products
The event also saw the launch of Nandini bakery products, expanding the cooperative’s value-added dairy portfolio. A vibrant milk-themed procession was held, engaging the local community in spreading awareness about milk’s health benefits.
Health experts present at the event emphasised that milk continues to be a complete nutritional food, vital for mental and physical development.
“Milk contains all the essential nutrients required for a healthy body and mind,” experts said, reinforcing its place in daily diets.
Cheluvaraju emphasised that supplying clean, high-quality milk is crucial to maintaining consumer trust and fostering long-term cooperative growth.
“Delivering quality milk is how we win trust—and that’s non-negotiable,” he added.
