Rajasthan’s dairy sector has reached a major milestone, recording an annual turnover of about ₹10,000 crore through the Rajasthan Co-operative Dairy Federation (RCDF) and its district unions. This marks one of the state’s strongest performances in the cooperative dairy model to date.
The RCDF posted a record profit of ₹400.85 crore for FY 2024–25, representing a 15 per cent rise from the previous year. The turnover growth highlights the state’s successful efforts in expanding milk collection, strengthening processing capacity, and improving market integration.
Milk now accounts for nearly one-third of Rajasthan’s total agricultural output, reflecting the growing economic significance of the dairy sector. The cooperative network has also advanced women’s participation and rural income generation through inclusive membership and decentralised operations.
Despite its achievements, the sector faces challenges such as fodder scarcity, limited cold-chain infrastructure, and climate sensitivity. Continued investment in technology, value-added products, and sustainability will be essential to maintain this upward trajectory.
Rajasthan’s model demonstrates how strategic cooperative management can convert a semi-arid region into a dairy powerhouse, strengthening both livelihoods and local economies.
