Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated India’s largest dairy production facility in Rohtak, Haryana. The ₹325-crore Sabar Dairy Plant at IMT Rohtak represents a significant advancement for the cooperative sector and the state’s economic growth.
Equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, the facility has a daily production capacity of 150 metric tons of curd, 3 lakh litres of buttermilk, 10 lakh litres of yoghurt, and 10 metric tons of sweets. It is also expected to generate nearly 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, reinforcing the dairy value chain and local employment.
Cooperative and Employment Generation
This initiative is part of broader development projects worth ₹825 crore across Rohtak and Kurukshetra. During the visit, Shah emphasised the role of cooperatives in empowering farmers, artisans, and rural communities.
At the Khadi Karigar Mahotsav, organised by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the Ministry of MSME, tool kits were distributed to 2,200 artisans. The event, themed “Swadeshi Se Swaavlamban”, underlined the government’s efforts to link traditional skills with modern economic opportunities.
Further, ₹301 crore was disbursed as margin money under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to support small-scale enterprises and encourage rural entrepreneurship.
Wider Social and Legal Initiatives
In Kurukshetra, Shah also inaugurated a five-day exhibition on India’s new criminal laws, designed to make reforms accessible to lawyers, students, and citizens. Divided into 10 thematic sections, the exhibition highlighted the scope of legal changes and the role of different departments in implementation.
